Illinois Green Party Congratulates Newly Elected Officers

Urbana, IL - The Illinois Green Party (ILGP) elected new officers on May 1, 2005 at its annual statewide membership meeting. This year's membership meeting was held in Urbana, Illinois from April 29-May 1. Over fifty Green Party members from all over the state - including newly elected Green McHenry Community College Board of Trustees member Scott Summers - attended this year's membership meeting.


Phil Huckelberry, co-chair of the Illinois Green Party said, "The Illinois Green Party would like to extend congratulations to its newly elected officers. Nearly all of the officers elected to positions on Sunday are new to their positions. All of the officers bring new skills and energy to their positions that will help the ILGP to succeed."


The following ILGP members were elected to officer positions:

 

Secretary:                   David Black of Belvidere, Winnebago-Boone Counties Green Party

Treasurer:                   Erika Schaefer of Peoria, Peoria Area Greens

Membership Steward: Daniel Rodriguez Schlorff of Chicago, North Side Greens

Locals Liaison:           Carolyn Riley of St. Charles, Kane County Greens

Representatives to the Green Party of the United States (GPUS):

In addition to officer elections, the ILGP membership meeting included skills workshops, planning sessions, and discussion of 2006 elections, including a possible 2006 ILGP statewide slate.


Susan Rodgers, president of the UIUC Campus Greens, said, "I'd like to thank all of the Greens that came to Urbana and participated in the ILGP membership meeting. The decisions, discussion, and networking that occurred at the meeting are sure to help the ILGP reach its goals."
